Help LightShare Accomplish its Goals

Since 2006, LightShare has made quite an impact on our local community—not only on the residents we serve but also on the volunteers, investors, and organizations with whom we partner.  Many folks have been an integral part of our community building efforts, and we are grateful for their commitment to our programming.  

We have chosen three words to capture what we do in the communities we serve:  Involve, Invest, Impact.  We involve people like you to invest their time, talent, and resources to impact the community around them.  I realize that many other organizations could say the same thing, but what makes us different is that we are doing it by connecting young and old, pulling together their talents and resources, and creating learning opportunities that build community.  When we build community, we can overcome challenges like poverty, racism, and educational disparity.

While at least 50% of our budgetary needs are met through in-kind donations and volunteer time, we use financial investments, like yours, to provide the following:

• Trained specialists who administer our programs and work with community residents
• Nationally-recognized curricula that form the foundations for each of our educational programs
• Up-to-date technology that is included in our educational programming as well as for the administration of our organization
• Educational tools and materials to offer enriched learning experiences whether it be for after school students or families in our parenting program

With your gift to LightShare, we can do more than just strengthen our existing programs, we can also begin working with other communities, not only here in Western North Carolina, but also in your backyard. 

Special investment opportunities

• Make a donation in honor of someone as a way of acknowledging their birthday or a holiday.  You may select one of our programs or make a general donation to the organization.  They will receive a beautiful card from LightShare which acknowledges your gift as well as shares some information about LightShare.
• Memorialize a friend or family member by making a contribution in his/her name.  We will then send a card to friends or family of your loved one noting your gift and to which program you have designated the donation.
• Become an event sponsor by underwriting the costs of one of LightShare’s community events or program projects. 
• Invite your civic club or church to include LightShare in its annual giving.  We will provide information regarding our organization and its programs as well as send a representative from our Board to speak about the services we are offering.  We also will send updates to your club or church so you see the impact of your investment.
• Involve your book club, supper club, or other social group in our “drives.”  Each season, we hold a drive (diapers, school supplies, art materials, etc) to replenish our pantries and educational materials.   Check out our events page to see which event might be of interest to your group.
• Become a corporate sponsor by having your business invest in LightShare.

Because LightShare is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, all donations are tax deductible.  Once you have made a financial investment, you will receive a letter from LightShare to retain for your files.
